New grandstand for “The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo”
Edinburgh (GB) 2011
With more than 200.000 visitors per year „The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo“ is the major music-festival in Scotland. Since 1950 the festival takes place in August in front of the Edinburgh Castle.
For the festival a new U-shaped grandstand with 8.800 seats and the neighbouring VIP- and equipment container have been designed. The assembly time has been nearly halved, it now last 7 weeks instead of 12.

The structure of the North- and South-stand consists of fish-belly girders with a regular spacing of 3,50 m. The outh-stand overhangs the terrain edge up to 9 m.
The VIP- and equipmentcontainers are bearing on a frame structure. The floor level of the VIP-area is about 12 m above the square ground.
