Redesign of the national stadium velodrome
Abuja (Nigeria) 2006
The large shelter of sun and rain in shape of a tortoise shell covers the velodrome and the circumferential stands.
The structure consists of a cable reinforced pretensioned membrane, which is anchored at the low edges with 16 suspended columns and at the high points with a upper cable net system to distribute the loads, which is tied back over 8 pylons of 50 m length. The Pylons, partially the tie backs and the foundations were reused from a earlier existing roof structure.
