Air control tower

The air control tower with integrated office building of Austro Control,located to the west of the World Trade Centre, is the technical heart of the Vienna air control. With its 109m height the tower is the landmark of the airport.

The cover is suitable for radar. It consists of 11 gradually distorted rings (4x26x26m) which upwards get more and more oval and it has a membrane surface of 3.324 m². The rings were assembled by the Lift-Slab method, level after level in all together 10 steps.
