Bushof Sursee (CH) 2024
The bus station roof is a large ETFE membrane cushion surrounded by cables on a steel supporting structure with 10 fixed supports. These supports branch out to form tapering, cantilever elements which bear the edge beam running around the exterior. The roof measures 120 x 11 m and has an eaves height of approximately 5.4 m.

The transitions between the 4 radii of the edge beam have been designed to create a smooth curve in the edge contour. As the ETFE membrane span is limited, tensioned cables run above and below the membrane roof. The upper roof layer is yellow, the lower layer is transparent and patterned with printed fine lines.

A large part of the installation and lighting is integrated invisibly within the steel structure and cushions. Channels for the support air and rainwater are incorporated into the structure.
Air supply for the cushion is provided by an energy-optimized air circulation system, housed in an adjacent equipment room.
